The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, in partnership with ESCAP and the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, convened approximately 100 experts to assess progress and share knowledge on transforming food systems across the Asia-Pacific region.

Following its launch at COP28, the Convergence Initiative gathers momentum as National Convenors and stakeholders contribute innovative ideas to drive forward the synergistic transformation of food systems and climate action.

The inaugural workshop of the Hub's Youth Leadership Program took place in Accra, Ghana, bringing together nearly 30 young leaders from across Africa to foster skills in leadership, science, and policy advocacy for sustainable food systems.

Open call to participate in an e-consultation on the draft "Guidance on strengthening national science-policy interfaces for agrifood systems," developed by the FAO Chief Scientist Office. Aligned with the FAO Science and Innovation Strategy, the guidance is intended to be a tool to facilitate reflection about advancing an SPI, its possible scope and mandate, and launch a learning process around SPIs. It could be considered at the country level in a process to strengthen existing, or establish new, agrifood system SPIs. Your feedback will help further elaborate and refine this draft guidance. At the 2024 Regional Forum on Sustainable Development for the UNECE Region, the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, in collaboration with the UN Issue-based Coalition on Sustainable Food Systems, convened two pivotal events dedicated to advancing the transformation of food systems within Europe and Central Asia.

The COP28 Presidency has garnered support from 134 world leaders for its groundbreaking agriculture, food, and climate action declaration, accompanied by over USD$2.5 billion in funding for food security and climate change initiatives. This declaration, endorsed by countries representing over 5.7 billion people, emphasizes the vital role in transforming food systems to combat climate change, reduce emissions, and address global hunger, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
