High-level UN Food Systems Advisory Group established to drive global transformation

30/01/2025

A high-level UN Food Systems Advisory Group has been established to support the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub (the Hub) in accelerating the transition to sustainable food systems as one of the most effective entry points to rescue the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. This influential group, comprising 19 diverse members and three observers, unites leading experts and advocates dedicated to making food systems more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient.

Convened and chaired by the UN Deputy Secretary-General and supported by the Hub, the Advisory Group will offer strategic guidance, amplify advocacy, and promote innovative solutions to advance food systems transformation through 2030, including preparations for the United Nations Food Systems Summit +4 (UNFSS+4) in 2025.

This initiative builds on the momentum sparked by the United Nations Secretary-General’s Call to Action for Food Systems Transformation following the UNFSS+2 Stocktake in 2023. Since the first UN Food Systems Summit in 2021, the need for united action across essential areas and actors has only grown louder. Members of the Advisory Group will leverage their expertise and networks to deliver impactful, inclusive, and measurable outcomes that address social, economic, and environmental challenges, improving the lives of millions.
